Spain eliminates France in the quarter-finals of the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup Korea

It took penalties to separate France and Spain at the FIFA World Cup in Jeju, but Spain finally remained successful to book a place in the semi-finals. The end result was perhaps a little harsh on France, who more than matched their opponents in normal and extra time, but there could only be one winner.

On the 52nd minutes on the clock, Frederic Duplus found Henri Saivet who made an excellent run from deep. The forward ran into the box before dragging the ball back to Le Tallec who was left with an easy opportunity to side-foot home.

Bojan Krkic hard shot from the edge of the box could only be parried into the path of Iago, who then fed Jordi. The substitute was left with an easy opportunity to fire the ball into the net, cueing joyous celebrations from the Spanish players and substitutes.

During the penalty shootouts, the two No5s, Mamadou Sakho and Nacho, blasted home their spot-kicks before Le Tallec and Sergio scored. Bourgeois saw his effort well saved, before Bojan's cheeky penalty put Spain's noses in front. Yann Avila did his job from 12 yards, as did Fran Merida. The pressure was on Alfred Ndiaye to keep his side in the game, which he did, but Daniel Aquino sent the Spanish through to the semis with a spot kick which no keeper could save.

The Black Starlets of Ghana meets Spain in the semifinals. Ghana qualifies for the semi-finals of the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Jeju, South Korea eliminating Peru in a 2-0 win. Sadick ADAMS (45+1min) & Ransford OSEI (53min) were the goal scorers
