Coach Musa Abdullahi last night led the Flying Eagles to pipe the quickly assembled Super Eagles 1-0 at the Old Parade Ground and said he was not satisfied with the performance of his team. Bello Musa opened scoring just four minutes into the game and the Flying Eagles held on to the lone goal till the end of the encounter.

I wanted the players to score more goals, but they couldn’t just do that. It was like after the lone goal scored in the early minute of the match, they went to sleep and did not bother scoring more to ensure convincing victory

Abdullahi, who still has 35 players left out of 87 that were invited for screening, said a FIFA World Youth Championship-bound team are expected to show off their scoring ability. They are yet to exhibit that scoring skill, and I want them to improve on that in our subsequent outings before leaving for an overseas training tour.

The Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Berti Vogts though admitted that he has discovered more talents from both sides, the German said he could not understand why the pressure was on his home-based team.

It was Nigeria versus Nigeria and I do not expect the players to be under any pressure that I noticed throughout the duration of the match.

The German, who is scheduled to leave for London before midweek en route to Germany, would not disclose the technical flaws he noticed in the Flying Eagles team as he said he would schedule a meeting with the team’s technical crew before he leaves for London.

I noticed something in the Under-20, but that I will discuss with the technical crew before making it open.

The Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Austin Eguavoen was however not surprised at his team’s defeat as he said that,

When I was in the Flying Eagles in my days, we defeated the Super Eagles. Age apart, both teams are almost the same.
You should remember we assembled this team just three days ago while the Flying Eagles players have been together since almost a month now, if not more than that.
In our subsequent matches of this nature don’t be surprised if you find some of the players in the Flying Eagles team in the Super Eagles.
