0-1 Chikezie Tobechi 54´
1-1 Ayewa Timi 64´
1-2 Mathew Ajiboye 87´
The match was an away match for FAKREM and it is the return match against Gofason FC. FAK-REM defeated Gofason at home comfortably 3-0 but would face a much tougher encounter this time.
The match was played at the Sports Centre of the University of Lagos and the encounter attracted many university students, who came
out in large numbers to watch the match, even the kick-off was an early 8:00 one.
The presence of FAKREM´s former player 21-year old Mojeed Lukman, who has been in Nigeria for Visa purposes, was an added motivation for the FAK-REM Boys. Mojeed Lukman is currently a free player but trains with Crown and Manor FC in Central London.
The 1st half of the match ended goaless and it was clear that the FAK-REM Boys faced a hard battle, if they wanted to defeat their opponents. A tactical game with tough combating in the midfield of the pitch did not allow both forward lines to create many chances.
But the 2nd half, saw FAK-REM Football Academy/Club taking an early lead. In the 54th minute, central midfielder Chikezie Tobechi headed home a corner, taken by captain Mathew Ajiboye.
It took Gofason only 10 minutes to equalize. In minute 64 Gofason´s Ayewa Timi scored and brought his team level again.
The match was finally decided in the last minutes of the game, when FAK-REM captain Mathew Ajiboye chased a loose ball from Gofason FC defender Udubise Uche in the 87th minute. Mathew controlled the ball and went passed two defenders before he netted the ball home.
Mathew did not only secure a 2-1 victory for his team over Gofason FC but his fine performance on the pitch made him to the "Man of the Match".
