The four young trialist from Frankfurt Academy on a month trials at Swedish Premiership Club GAIS are displaying a progressively more impressive performance. The players who show an extraordinary work rate and impressive tactical and technical discipline are having a good and successful trial. All 4 players started training on Monday 6th November, 2006 and on Wednesday 8th November they went for gym work.


Frankfurt Academy´s four trialist embark on this trip upon receipt of an emergency invitation from the Swedish Premiership Club, GAIS via the Swedish embassy in Abuja, who authorized them to pick up their already granted visa’s at the Danish Embassy in Accra, Ghana.


The players arrived at the Gothenburg Airport on 5th Nov, 2006 and were received at the airport by the scout Mr. Daniel Aman and club Director Mr. Magnus Skoldmark who took the players with the Club bus to Gais Garden, where they are based.


The Director later took the players to his office and welcomes the player’s formally, followed by an introduction of the club´s staff and the head coach. They interviewed the players with questions regarding roles, positions and qualities. They took the players around their facilities and showed them a lot of things including their newly constructed astro turf pitches, a special gym etc. They handed over the programmes for the trial to players on Friday evening.


In the same night, the club took the 4 players to take part in an indoor match due to heavy snow. Gais added two more players, a Liberian and a Somali player who appeared against a Gothenburg selected side which the youngsters won 7-0. Godfred Appiah, the tremendous striker scored 4 goals, Zeeni Yussif scored 1, Samuel Edo also scored 1 and the Liberian player also added 1.


The fans who watched the match, clearly admired the way Zeeni Yussif and Godfred Appiah played, but the coach commented that Fredrick Sarpong played more mature and tactically disciplined, but was happy with the overall performance of the trialist. The coach also revealed that he expects similar perfomances in the upcoming games they have schedule for the trialists. Generally the coach has expressed his interest in the players.


All 4 players have been training with the U-20 side of GAIS for a week so far and the best 2 trialists will join the professional team of Gais in the following week. The players have to play a total of 4 friendly games during their one month trial at GAIS. The weather has being very bad on Thursday and Friday but all the snow disappeared on Saturday and Sunday.


The head coach from GAIS U20 side, Mr. Hasse Wildow has confirmed yesterday that GAIS are interested in all the 4 players and have rated them as follows.

Comments: though short has extra-ordinary dribbling skills and should play for U20


The 4 players are about to play two big games that will attract a lot of spectators and the media on Saturday and Sunday.
