The final Group matches of the RE-Mock World Cup in Lagos, Nigeria have been distrupted as a result of very heavy rain.
The match between FAK-REM (GERMANY) and Young Planners FC (ECUADOR) had to be re-scheduled from Friday, 19th to Saturday, 20th May 2006, 16:00 (local time).
The match should decide who will be the top of the table at the end of the final group matches in Group A.
Both teams, GERMANY (FAK-REM) and ECUADOR (Young Planners FC) had 6 points but the FAK-REM Boys were leading the table with the better goal difference of +3. Young Planners FC had a goal difference of +2 and therefore it was clear that FAK-REM just needed a draw to top the table at the end of the group stage.
Both teams tried their best to score the winner but all efforts did not materialise. The match was of very good quality standard and produced some exciting football. Only goals were missing in this fluid and fast encounter. Both teams deserved the draw and with the points shared, FAK-REM (GERMANY) finished at the top of the table of Group A with 7 points and a goal difference of +3 and will meet now the runners up of Group B.
ECUADOR (Young Planners FC) also qualified as second placed with 7 points and a goal difference of +2 and will meet the first of Group B.
The Round of last 16 will start tomorrow and FAK-REM (GERMANY) will meet Robo FC (ENGLAND) in the next knock-out stage at 10:00 am (local time).
The FAK-REM Boys are the youngest team in this important competition and is very focused on proceeding to the next rounds. The FAK-REM team worked and trained hard and is very well prepared to go as far as possible in this tournament. The knock-out stages presents some of Nigeria´s finest football talent´s and each of the last 16 teams has prepared well and is eager to lift the RE-Mock World Cup trophy at the end of the competition.
