The match had to be postponed due to heavy rain, but the opening match was re-scheduled to Sunday, 14th of May, 11:00 am (local time) at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos (Practicing Pitch).

The referee of the match between Germany (Fak-REM) and Costa Rica (Rest of World FC) was Mr. Chris Weldon a FIFA rated referee who works with the British High Commission Embassy as a Visa officer.

Germany (FAK-REM) showed excellent ball control and very good combination skills but were denied the deserved lead. Unfortunately, just before half time young revelation and star striker Chinedu Obinor received a red card by FIFA referee Weldon. the first half ended goalless with Germany (FAK-REM) down to 10 men.

In the second half, Germany (FAK-REM) fought hard with only 10 men still willing to win the opening match. After 70 minutes it was finally Germany (FAK-REM) who took the lead by a fine effort of FAK-REM striker Gbenga Fashakin. 10-men Germany (FAK-REM) fought for the remaining 20 minutes and finally defended the lead. The only goal by FAK-REM striker Gbenga Fashakin was enough to decide the opening match between Germany (FAK-REM) and Costa Rica (Rest of the World FC) 1:0.
