FAK-REM IFE v Obafemi Awolo University Staff School 4-3 after penalty shoot out

The Local Government Council Championship in IFE (3rd - 17th of April 2006) had been concluded with the final match between FAK-REM IFE v OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY STAFF SCHOOL.
The match was held on Monday, 17th of April 2006 at 4.00 pm local time at the IFE CITY STADIUM.

The Final was dominated by both defence lines. No team wanted to lose this final and also FAK-REM tried to decide this match, the FAK-REM attackers around topsorer and sensational Chinedu Obinor could not pass the solid defence of Obafemi Awolowo to score a decisive goal. the second hald was a tension soaked encounter and great football was on display. Congratulation to both teams who showed attractive and excellent football. The match ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.
In extratime, the FAK-REM Boys were in control of the game but was not able to break down the resolute Obafemi Awolowo defence. At the end of extratime the result was still a 0-0 draw and the referee had to call for the decisive penalty shoot out to determine a winner for this Championship.

3. Prize Money awarded to the winner of the Championship - FAK-REM IFE Team (100,000.- Naira, approx. USD 800.-)

4. Prize Money awarded to runners up of the Championship - Obafemi Awolowo University Staff School (80,000 Naira)
